A delegation from the Taichung City-based Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA) is in Chiba, Japan, for Japan Drone 2025, underway through June 6.

According to a news release from the Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation, also based in Taichung, the group was led by TEDIBOA chair Hu Kai-hong. The conference focuses on disaster prevention, relief and logistics, the corporation said.

AIDC said that Lee Yi-yang, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Japan, and Chien Chih wei, director of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ aerospace industry promotion panel, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Hu and Yasuhiro Senda, executive vice president of Japan UAS Industrial Development Association. The agreement is intended to improve long-term drone technology collaboration and expedite the entry of relevant domestic products into the Japanese market, AIDC added.

Japan’s drone industry specializes in automatic control and precision machinery, while Taiwan’s excels in chips, information security, manufacturing and systematic incorporation, AIDC said, adding that bilateral cooperation would encompass application, technological development and market sharing.

AIDC noted that bilateral exchanges began in March this year, when members of Japan Drone Consortium visited Taiwan to gain insight into the country’s research and production capabilities.

In his remarks, Senda said he hoped that the two sides would actively explore supply chain integration in follow-up business meetings, the corporation added. (POC-E)
